11-day Afghanistan Itinerary
Upon arrival in Kabul from Dubai at 6:35 am, you’ll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After resting for four hours, an exciting city tour of Kabul will commence at 12 pm. The tour will include visits to the vibrant Bird market, the holy Shah Do Shrine of Shah e du Shamshira, the majestic Shah Do Shamshira Mosque, the bustling markets of Temor Shahi Street, the moving Farkhonda’s Memorial, and finally, the breathtaking views from Bibi Mahro Hills.
On Day 2, we’ll leave Kabul and journey towards Ghazni. This historic city is home to ancient minarets, a formidable fortress, and an enlightening open-air war museum. You’ll have a chance to explore and understand the region’s significant past and cultural richness.
Day 3 begins with a departure from Ghazni and a drive to the awe-inspiring ancient city of Zuhak. We’ll explore the ancient ruins before moving on to the breathtaking sights of Buddha 1 and Buddha 2. We’ll then journey to Bamiyan, a city known for its rich history and bustling markets. You’ll have a chance to interact with locals, peruse unique products, and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture.
On Day 4, we’ll depart from Bamiyan for Band-e Amir National Park, known for its stunning natural beauty and six breathtaking blue lakes. Post the park visit. We’ll explore Gholghola, the ‘City of Screams’, an ancient city with a fascinating yet tragic history. After a day of historical exploration and scenic beauty, we’ll return to Bamiyan for the evening.
On Day 5, we’ll bid farewell to Bamiyan and embark on a scenic drive to Mazar-e-Sharif. This journey will present you with stunning vistas and a chance to absorb the diverse landscapes that this beautiful country offers. Mazar-e-Sharif, known for its famous Blue Mosque, will be our destination for the night.
Day 6 will be dedicated to exploring the historical city of Balkh, once known as the ‘Mother of Cities.’ We’ll begin with Tepe Rustam, an ancient archaeological site, move on to the Green Mosque, an elegant place of worship, and finally visit the Bala Hissar, a fortified hill of great historical significance. After a day steeped in ancient history and architectural beauty, we’ll return to Mazar-e-Sharif for the night.
Day 7 will start with a visit to the iconic Blue Mosque in Mazar-e-Sharif, renowned for its stunning blue tiles and spiritual ambiance. From there, we’ll head to Samangan to see the Takht-i Rustam, a historic stupa-monastery complex, the Robatak, an ancient past, and the unique Cave Bazaar, where shops are carved into the mountainside. Our final destination will be Kholm, where we’ll explore the exquisite Bagh e Jana Nama Palace, known for its intricate architecture. After a day of diverse and immersive experiences, we’ll return to Mazar-e-Sharif for the night.
On Day 8, we’ll transfer to Mazar-e-Sharif airport at 4:00 am for a 6:00 am flight back to Kabul. After landing in Kabul, you’ll have some free time before your next getaway at 4:00 pm, taking you to the historic city of Herat. This day will be primarily dedicated to traveling and transitioning between locations.
On Day 9, we’ll dive into Herat’s cultural and historical richness. Our day begins with a visit to the Great Mosque, a special place of worship known for its beautiful tile work. Next, we’ll explore the formidable Herat Citadel and the vibrant local Bazaar. We’ll proceed to the towering Musallah Minarets, the majestic Gowar Shad Mausoleum, and the solemn Shahzadeh Tomb. This day will be a feast of cultural heritage and architectural beauty.
Day 10 begins with an 8 am transfer from Herat Airport, followed by a flight to Kabul at 11:15 am. Once in Kabul, the itinerary includes visits to several notable attractions. First on the list is the Sakhi Shrine, an important religious site known for its historical and cultural importance. Afterward, the itinerary takes you to the Gardens of Babur, a beautiful and serene park with lush greenery and historical significance. Lastly, you will explore the Bird market, a vibrant and bustling market where you can observe and purchase various species of birds. This day offers a combination of religious, historical, and cultural experiences in the vibrant city of Kabul.
On Day 11, the morning is dedicated to exploring Kabul further. The first stop is the Id Gah Mosque, a significant religious site where Muslims gather for Eid prayers. It holds historical and cultural significance within the city. Next, you will visit Bibi Mahro Hills, which offers a scenic view of Kabul and is known for its natural beauty.
After the morning visits, you will have lunch at 1 pm to replenish your energy. Then, at 3 pm, you will be transferred to the airport to depart from Kabul to Dubai. The flight is scheduled for 5:25 pm, marking the end of your stay in Kabul and the continuation of your journey.
