2-day Kabul Itinerary

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome upon arrival in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital and cultural heart. After a smooth airport transfer to your hotel, take some time to settle in before embarking on an exciting city tour at 11:00 PM.

Start your exploration with a visit to the Sakhi Shrine, one of the most revered sites in Afghanistan. This beautiful blue-domed shrine, dedicated to Hazrat Ali, the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad, holds deep spiritual significance for Afghan Muslims. The shrine becomes especially lively during Nowruz (Persian New Year), when thousands of pilgrims gather here to celebrate.

Next, head to the Shah Do Shamshira Mosque, an architectural gem located near the Kabul River. Unlike traditional Afghan mosques, this two-story structure, built in the early 20th century under King Amanullah Khan, reflects a unique mix of Mughal and Baroque influences. Its golden dome and ornate façade make it a striking sight in the heart of the city.

A short walk brings you to Kabul’s bustling Bird Market, also known as Ka Faroshi Bazaar. This centuries-old market offers a glimpse into a traditional Afghan pastime—bird keeping, a hobby that has been passed down for generations. Wander through the narrow alleyways lined with cages filled with colorful songbirds, pigeons, and even falcons, while listening to the energetic bargaining between traders.

Continue your journey to the Timur Shah Durrani Mausoleum, the final resting place of Timur Shah (1748-1793), the Afghan ruler who made Kabul the capital of the Durrani Empire. The octagonal mausoleum, surrounded by lush gardens, is an important historical landmark, showcasing the grandeur of Afghan royal architecture.

As the day winds down, make your way to Wazir Akbar Khan Hill, a perfect spot for panoramic views of Kabul’s sprawling cityscape. Named after a 19th-century Afghan prince, this hilltop provides a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. It’s an ideal place to capture sunset photos and reflect on the historical depth of the city.

Return to your hotel for a relaxing evening, preparing for another day of cultural exploration.

Begin your day at 8:30 AM with a visit to the Shewaki Buddhist Stupa, a fascinating reminder of Afghanistan’s Buddhist past. Dating back to the 2nd century CE, this stupa is part of a vast network of Buddhist sites that once flourished in the region before the spread of Islam. The site offers travelers a rare opportunity to witness the remnants of a civilization that connected Afghanistan to the Silk Road and the spread of Buddhism across Asia.

Next, head to the Gardens of Babur, one of Kabul’s most cherished historical landmarks. Originally built in the 16th century by Emperor Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, these gardens were designed as a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. Babur himself requested to be buried here, and his simple yet elegant marble tomb sits within the garden, offering a tranquil atmosphere. Take a leisurely walk among the lush terraces, flowing water channels, and historic pavilions, soaking in the same views that once inspired the great emperor.

Your final stop before departure is the Id Gah Mosque, one of Kabul’s oldest and most significant places of worship. Built in the late 19th century under Emir Abdur Rahman Khan, this grand mosque is known for its spacious courtyard and its role as the center for Eid prayers and major religious gatherings. The mosque holds deep cultural importance, making it a fitting final visit to conclude your journey in Kabul.

After an enriching cultural experience, transfer to the airport at 3:00 PM for your 5:25 PM departure to Dubai, leaving with unforgettable memories of Afghanistan’s history, spirituality, and breathtaking landscapes.
