9-day Iraq itinerary
Arrival at Baghdad international airport. Meet and greet with our transfer operator, that will take you directly to the hotel. Suppose you choose the Baghdad morning arrival. In that case, you will have included a full-day Baghdad city tour, from the airport directly to visiting the city’s most important monuments.
This is the day you visit the renowned site of the old city of Babylon. After a guided tour of the archeological complex, you will drive up the hill to the abandoned Saddam Hussein palace. Before heading to Karbala, you visit the Borsippa Ziggurat, also known as Birs Nimrud. Borsippa was an important ancient city of Sumer. The temple to Nabu at Borsippa was destroyed in 484 BC during the suppression of a revolt against the Achaemenid king Xerxes. Drive to Karbala.
From Karbala, you will travel toward Najaf, stopping at Al Kifl to visit Ezekiel’s Tomb. In Najaf, visit the most important religious sites of Iraq, Imam Ali Mosque and the Wadi Al-Salam Cemetery, one of the largest cemeteries in the world.
