Travel to Oman with us

Arabia’s most gracious kingdom — where frankincense trails wind through desert canyons, where wadis pool turquoise beneath jagged peaks, and where Bedouin hospitality remains the law of the land.

Oman Tours

Oman is the Arabian Peninsula’s most elegant country — a sultanate that has modernised without losing its soul. While Dubai built glass towers, Oman preserved its frankincense heritage, its mud-brick forts, and its Bedouin hospitality code. The result is Arabia as it was meant to be experienced. Muscat’s Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the most beautiful modern mosques in the world. The Wahiba Sands desert rolls in perfect dunes of orange and gold. The wadis — seasonal riverbeds — cut through the Hajar Mountains in gorges of turquoise pools and date palm oases. The Musandam Peninsula’s fjords mirror Norway’s coastline in a tropical setting. And everywhere, the legendary Omani hospitality: kahwa (cardamom coffee), dates, and a warmth that is genuine, never performative.

RJ Travel operates group tours and private tours across Oman, from Muscat’s old quarter and the Sultan Qaboos Mosque to Nizwa’s fort and souq, the Wahiba Sands desert camps, Wadi Shab and Wadi Bani Khalid, the Musandam fjords, the frankincense lands of Dhofar, and the ancient beehive tombs of Al Ayn. Our itineraries include desert camping, wadi swimming, dhow cruises, and cultural immersions with Bedouin communities.

Whether you’re drawn by the sight of a Bedouin camp glowing beneath desert stars in the Wahiba Sands, swimming in the emerald pools of Wadi Shab beneath canyon walls, or the scent of frankincense drifting through the souks of Nizwa, our Oman tours reveal the Arabia that existed before oil — and that Oman has wisely chosen to preserve.

  • Wadis, Canyons & Hajar Mountains: Oman’s wadis are natural swimming pools carved into the Hajar Mountains by seasonal floods — turquoise water surrounded by polished rock, date palms, and canyon walls. Wadi Shab requires a boat ride and a swim through a narrow gorge to reach a waterfall-fed pool inside a cave. Wadi Bani Khalid offers easier access to pools of impossible clarity. The Hajar Mountains themselves — rising to 3,000 metres at Jebel Shams — offer dramatic canyon drives, mountain villages clinging to terraced slopes, and the Balcony Walk along Oman’s Grand Canyon. The abandoned village of Wadi Ghul sits at the canyon’s rim, a ghost town of stone houses overlooking a 1,000-metre drop into the valley below.
  • Wahiba Sands & Desert Culture: The Wahiba Sands (Sharqiya Sands) is Oman’s most accessible desert — an ocean of golden-red dunes stretching south from the Hajar Mountains. Camp under the stars at a Bedouin-run desert camp, ride camels along the dune ridges at sunset, and experience the silence of a desert night so complete you can hear your own heartbeat. The Bedouin communities who live on the desert’s edge still practise the ancient hospitality code: every visitor is welcomed with coffee, dates, and halwa, and every tent is open. Dune-bashing in 4×4 vehicles, sandboarding, and sunrise photography from the highest dune crests complete the desert experience.
  • Muscat & Omani Heritage: Muscat is the most refined capital on the Arabian Peninsula — a city that chose low-rise whitewashed architecture over glass skyscrapers, and traditional souks over shopping malls. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque holds the world’s second-largest hand-woven carpet and a Swarovski crystal chandelier that weighs eight tonnes. The Mutrah Souq — a covered labyrinth of frankincense, silver, and textiles — has operated on the same waterfront for centuries. The Royal Opera House hosts world-class performances in an architectural setting that blends Islamic geometry with contemporary design. And the Mutrah Corniche at dusk, with dhows bobbing in the harbour and the mountains turning purple behind the old town, is one of the most peaceful urban scenes in the Middle East.
  • Musandam Fjords & Frankincense Coast: The Musandam Peninsula — Oman’s geographic exclave at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula — is the “Norway of Arabia”: deep fjords cutting into limestone mountains that plunge straight into the Strait of Hormuz. Cruise by traditional dhow past dolphins, isolated fishing villages accessible only by boat, and cliff faces that drop hundreds of metres into water so clear you can see the seabed twenty metres below. In the far south, the Dhofar region around Salalah is the historic land of frankincense — UNESCO-listed archaeological sites mark the trading ports from which this precious resin was shipped to Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia. During the khareef monsoon (July-September), Dhofar turns unexpectedly green in the only tropical monsoon on the Arabian Peninsula.
